In this painting I used a bunch of left over paints from projects, including my recent swatching so there is a little of the lunar violet and indigo in there! I painted this in my little watercolor journal I sell that has 140lb cold press watercolor paper and using my size 3 quill brush. Just make sure you dry each layer really well and as more color builds on the page you'll need a lighter touch with the brush so it doesn't smear. Just like sunsets night skies are pretty forgiving as long as you use lots of water and really let it flow! You can add as many layers as you need until you get it as dark as you want. In this tutorial we talk about layering, letting colors flow together, and then adding different mixed media on top to add additional interest. The night sky has always fascinated me, and I love painting these little magical paintings of a forest night sky.
